Project by Project Hosts Seventh Annual Tasting Benefit - Plate by Plate

PLATE BY PLATE Hosted by Project by Project to Benefit the Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program (API SBP) On Saturday, August 1, 2009, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Project by Project will be hosting the Seventh Annual Tasting Benefit called Plate by Plate in Los Angeles, California in the Wallis Annenberg Building at the California Science Center. All net proceeds from the admission and auction purchases of the event will benefit the Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program to help the organization strengthen its foundation and mission to assist the development of Asian and Pacific Islander small and micro businesses in Los Angeles, especially those of low income immigrants of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Filipino communities. Over 30 chefs of New American, international, and fusion restaurants join with vintners, brewers, and distillers from around the world to bring guests a night of food, drinks, and fun. A Gastropub in Montrose? You mean I don't have to take multiple freeways to get there? You mean, I have other places to eat at in Honolulu Ave. besides the fake pho place and the artery clogging barbeque franchise and the soggy salads at some of the "cafes" and the unlimited froyo place that keeps changing their name or spend an exhorbitant amount of money at an establishment that is not going to be there in 3 months? Cuz, come on. If it's a gastropub, it's only a matter of time before I become a regular there. And it's SO CLOSE. I can take local. Maybe I should sign up for the spinning classes across the street so I can finish off a workout with some Chimay. Nice! This place is awesome and obviously for dog-lovers. There is a dog water bowl outside for all the dogs that get walked on this street. Angelino's Cafe

I found a new place that I love and will be on my "repeat" list. I actually found this place on yelp.com when I was searching for $ (low priced) restaurants near Westwood. When Angelino's came up and I read all the reviews, I was stunned I didn't know about this place sooner. I must have passed by it all the time without ever noticing it! D and I drove to the address and realized that it was right across the street from the Westwood Brewing Co. It's right next to the ice cream shop. How could we have missed it? The space is small and the awning is green. If you blink you might miss it so make sure you have your eyes peeled when you're at this intersection. When we entered, the restaurant was empty. Perhaps they are busier during lunch times? The tv was on, playing a soccer game. The owner greeted us. Where were the workers? He was the only one behind the counter.
